The thread

Team Members: Natalie Rowe, Guillermo Gonzalez, Ariane Lebrilla, Gloria Mah

This project’s objective was to give a new identity to the South Park neighborhood of Downtown Los Angeles. By reactivating the streets and reclaiming empty parking lots, my team proposed a new animated lifestyle for South Park. A long linear park will weave its way through the blocks while visual intrigue in building architecture and facade will draw residents and visitors alike across the site. No amenity or surface will have a single functional use. Wherever one walks, they can also play, bike, read, dance, and skate. People will be encouraged to engage in the world around them physically, socially, and visually. Each block will be unique in character creating a new way finding ability for people other than the conventional street names.
